silence

Alone in a tree
the jackdaw I scared away
from the bird table

Snow traces
on the doormat
of the zendo

The moon too
is covered in snow
tonight

Snow flakes
now the heavy ones too
dare to let go

The night so cold
I invited the moon in
but she declined

Even that autumn leaf
fell through the ice
and froze
