Summer rain
the soft munching
of snails

The bird
dissolved in words
vanishes

Somewhere
between all that green
Buddha sits

Their empty house
the waste container filled
with pain

Pouring rain
the hungry birds
don't care

Every time I look up
the scarecrow moves
and hoes a little

Pulled weeds
furtively saved by
last night's rain
